FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Jonathan, the founder of Rising Sport Stars, launched the program in 2013 with a mission to bring fun, skill‑focused, and meaningful sports experiences to youth across the community. With over a decade of teaching experience and a master’s in Recreation Administration, he blends education, athletics, and child development into a powerful coaching philosophy. A USA Basketball Certified Coach, Jonathan remains hands‑on in every program—driving a culture of growth, confidence, and excellence that continues to shape the next generation of young athletes.

BASKETBALL COACH SUPERVISIOR 

 Coach Jake is the heartbeat of our coaching staff—our longest‑tenured leader and a driving force behind Rising Sport Stars’ growth. His experience, consistency, and passion elevate every athlete who steps on the court. Jake sets the tone for our program with his high standards, sharp basketball IQ, and unwavering commitment to developing confident, skilled young players. His leadership doesn’t just guide our athletes—it inspires our entire coaching team. 

LEAD BASKETBALL COACH

  Coach Derrick Johnson Jr. brings energy, expertise, and a powerful connection with young athletes. His deep understanding of the game and ability to break down skills with clarity make him a standout leader on the court. Derrick’s positive approach, strategic mindset, and commitment to player growth elevate every session. He’s a driving force in our program—and a coach athletes are excited to learn from. 

LEAD BASKETBALL COACH

 Terry Larrier is a former UConn Husky (Class of 2015–2018), a seasoned international pro, and a dedicated performance coach. His experience across the NBA G‑League and top global leagues fuels a training style built on precision, discipline, and elite competitiveness. Terry’s leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to athlete development make him a powerful mentor for players striving to elevate their game and reach the next level. 

COACH MENTOR & BASKETBALL LEAGUE COACH

 Coach Danny Rampersad brings over 25 years of coaching excellence to our program, serving as a veteran mentor and a steady, trusted leader. His deep basketball knowledge, calm presence, and ability to elevate both athletes and fellow coaches make him an anchor of Rising Sport Stars. Danny’s passion for teaching, guiding, and modeling excellence continues to shape our culture and inspire every player who comes through our doors. 

ASSISTANT BASKSETBALL COACH

 Coach Krist Djonaj brings patience, heart, and an unwavering commitment to youth development. His calm presence and genuine care create an environment where young athletes feel supported, confident, and excited to grow. Krist’s steady guidance, positive energy, and ability to connect with every child make him a trusted role model on and off the court—and an essential part of our program’s success. 

ASSISTANT BASKSETBALL COACH

 Coach Alberto Morel brings over five years of hands‑on experience in elementary athletics, combining creativity, motivation, and a genuine passion for helping young athletes grow. His energetic coaching style keeps kids engaged, confident, and excited to learn. Alberto’s ability to build trust, teach fundamentals, and inspire effort makes him a powerful addition to Rising Sport Stars—and a coach families are thrilled to have on their child’s journey.

Coach Nick Alonso brings warmth, patience, and a strong foundation in childhood education to every session. With experience as a school paraprofessional and sports instructor at Kips Bay, he blends instructional skill with a genuine love for athletics. Nick’s caring nature, steady enthusiasm, and ability to make every child feel seen and supported create an environment where young athletes grow with confidence. He’s a trusted mentor on and off the court—and a coach families instantly connect with.

 Coach Madeline Mungalsingh brings warmth, patience, and a certified background in childhood education to every session. Her nurturing approach, clear communication, and ability to connect with young athletes help kids feel confident, supported, and eager to learn. Madeline’s dedication to growth and her positive presence make her a trusted guide for developing players and a valued member of our coaching team.

Coach Ezequiel Christopher brings energy, dedication, and a strong commitment to youth development. Through his work with afterschool programs—including Kips Bay—he creates an environment where young athletes feel supported, challenged, and inspired. As an aspiring physical education teacher in college, Ezequiel blends his growing expertise with genuine care, ensuring every child has the chance to thrive. His enthusiasm and steady guidance make him a trusted role model both on and off the court.
