FOUNDER

Jonathan, a passionate athlete, recognized the critical role of proper youth sports training and coaching. In 2013, he founded Rising Sport Stars, where children can develop their skills through a fun, interactive, and fundamental approach. Over the years, Jonathan has led private training sessions, clinics, classes, and coached various teams. His 12 years of experience as a physical education teacher uniquely inform his coaching style, seamlessly integrating educational principles into sports training.

A recent graduate from Lehman College with an M.A. in Recreation Administration, Jonathan is also a USA Basketball Certified Coach. He successfully oversaw the basketball program at Westchester Day School in Mamaroneck, NY, for 5 years. Currently, he is actively involved in the day-to-day clinics and league at Rising Sport Stars. Jonathan’s vision extends beyond the court, aiming to expand the program and positively impact as many children as possible. His dedication and expertise make him an invaluable leader in our community.

     HEAD COACH SUPERVISIOR         

 Jake brings a wealth of experience as a youth sports camp counselor and coach to Rising Sport Stars. As our longest-tenured coach, he leads by example, demonstrating dedication and hard work. Jake’s genuine care for the children shines through, and he consistently seeks ways to enhance our program for their benefit. His unwavering support for the coaching staff ensures that the quality of our program improves every day. Jake’s extensive experience makes him the best supervisor for our team. We’re fortunate to have his leadership and commitment!  

BASKETBALL COACH

 Coach Derrick Johnson Jr. is a fantastic part of our team. His deep knowledge of the game and patience when working with children make him an invaluable asset. Derrick’s experience and strategic insights enhance our coaching approach, while his ability to connect with young athletes fosters a positive and motivating environment. We’re thrilled about the unique perspective and skills he brings to the table and look forward to an exciting season filled with growth and success for our players!

 Malik Hamilton’s NCAA experience at Shaw University makes him a valuable coach. His background helps him mentor and inspire young athletes. Malik’s passion for basketball and ability to connect with kids foster an environment that promotes skill development, character, confidence, and teamwork. He’s an exceptional role model dedicated to the success of every child he works with

We are thrilled to welcome Coach Alberto Morel to the Rising Sport Stars coaching team! With over five years of experience in elementary school settings, Coach Morel brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in teaching and developing young athletes. His innovative coaching techniques and motivational approach have consistently prompted students to achieve their best. We are excited to see the positive impact he will bring to our program.

 Donovan, a talented player for Manhattanville’s NCAA Division III team, brings a wealth of experience to our coaching staff. With his collegiate background, he excels in mentoring and inspiring young athletes. Donovan's passion for basketball and his ability to connect with kids create a nurturing environment that fosters skill development, character building, confidence, and teamwork.
